I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
The art is more of a painterly style than typical comic illustrations, but that only makes this feel more futuristic in my opinion. It fits the storyline, set in a futuristic Japan, controlled by someone merely named Father. His right hand is Rai.
Rai does whatever Father tells him to, unquestioningly - well, at least until a woman is murdered. Torn, tormented by the feeling that something is wrong, Rai investigates on his own, and later with the help of a young girl. When the girl discovers the truth about the woman, about what she means to Rai, well, it's too late.
Because Rai has stumbled upon someone who can give him all the answers that he needs, although they're not at all the answers he wanted.
And for anyone with my inclinations - it has a shitload of AI, robot companions, and yeah. It's pretty hot. I may have a new literary crush.
