I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
I didn't really take BOOM! seriously, partly because of their logo, partly because I knew what I liked in graphic novels and I wasn't sure they were delivering. Then again, I expanded the types of comics I read, and I'm exploring some of the smaller studios - that is, not Marvel or DC - and I'm finding that they're producing some of my favorite graphic novels!
Hit is a noir graphic novel, with the cinematic sensibilities of an old, classic movie, and text to go along with those images. It's just beautiful, and while, at first, I wondered if there wasn't more to that ending - and why there wasn't - when I leaned back, to take in the whole thing? It was really the perfect ending.
Lovely, lovely read. Still on sale, here:
