I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
And I'm not all that impressed. I knew it was Barber, I knew I didn't like what little I'd read of Revolution and I knew that while I trusted Barber in the Transformers universe, I didn't trust him as much as Roberts. Almost but not quite as much.
The annexation and the issues it brought along have gone from interested to annoying. Prime's seeming lack of self-confidence makes want to the hurl the book. He doesn't show that he questions himself, but you, as the reader, see it, and I'm not crazy about the way this is going. I may or may not give this series a couple more issues, but only because I'm interested in some of the side characters, like Jazz and the linked couple they mention.
There's also flashbacks to Orion Pax and the beginning of the Deception revolution and that actually is more interesting to me than the present: it feels more urgent in many ways, and I also feel like it shouldn't.
So meh. But it's a first issue. And even with established continuity, when you change something, especially with a huge event like crossover, I know it can be hard to fit new players into a series. I may or may not be willing to give this series another try, but I have a whole month to make my decision, so that's nice.
