I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
This was a lot moire nuanced than the last series: Deadshot talking about his daughter, Reverse Flash and Harley Quinn talking in general - mostly about who they were and who they wanted to be, and Harley Quinn with the children she's imprisoned with were all examples of character development that I felt was lacking in the previous run, simply called 'The Suicide Squad.'
I'm still not happy with Vic Sage and what was done with him, as it's far less compelling than his Question persona. Even with those disappointments, it's still far superior to what I've just reread. (Which I did to see if I'd like them better now that I was into the Suicide Squad and Deadshot and because I didn't remember a thing about them. Clearly they made no impression on me.)
That being said, I have another volume of this - the next one, called Freedom - and I will at the very least read that volume. I'm enjoying the post Rebirth Suicide Squad, though, so I'll probably just stick to that for now.
