I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
Marvel gave away an issue in the middle of the storyline. It was bizarre because I was thrown for a loop. I figured this might be a new story arc, but so much that happened in previous issues seemed to be important that particular issue.
I still loved this: the characters, the plot, the noir detective feel - which was only heightened by not knowing what had happened, the art, it was all fantastic. I was never so lost that I felt it was a waste of time reading this issue without the others. It does make me question why Marvel would choose this issue to put up for free, though. Surely issue one in this mini-series would be a better choice? But it was this issue, and I haven't read Powers in a while, so I decided to indulge in this freebie issue.
Not sure I'll continue, especially since I'm not sure where I stand on this storyline given the weirdness of having read this one before most other issues. That being said, I think throwing readers into this issue if they download it for free can lose them business: it's such an odd place to start, it throws me off. I'm sure some readers will finish, go WTF, and just not continue.
