I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.

Yes, more please!

Daredevil (2015-) #8 - Goran Suduka, Charles Soule, Giuseppe Camuncoli

Damn, I'm loving this run of Daredevil.   (Plus, I read it in a synagogue, so it counts as my read in not my house spot.   Whoo!   Now I just have to sweat over the romance spot, since I got mystery in with Vision which was suspenseful as all get out, so I counted it for suspense.)

New storyline as Matt goes to China, enters a poker tournament - despite not being able to see the cards - and wins.

Again, despite not being able to see the cards.   Which amused me so, so much.   He did a great job at reading people, and that's really all he needed to do.   Except he's not there for the money and actually can't cash his check as he entered under a pseudonym.   Black Cat left something, and a certain spider is going to help Matt find whatever it is wherever she left it.   Then again, Black Cat is a cat burglar, pretty high end, and who knows what she took, why, or where she left it.

I want to know.  I want to know very badly.   This was just enough to make me want more, although I've been reading some criticism about this series.   Yeah, I loved the previous series, and this is a change to uberdark.   I also like uberdark so I'm cool with this.   I can see why the change feels very sudden - it is - and I can even understand the complaints about Blindspot and needing more of DD in costume.   I don't quite understand the split from Foggy or the new DA aspect, but I trust Soule enough to go with it for now.   I think the apprentice storyline and a lot of what he's doing as a street level hero has me hooked enough right now to love this.   I do, however, get why others don't.    (Nor would I want to diminish, or counter, their experience even if I didn't; they don't like it, and that's fine.   It's just that I read the complaints and went 'huh.'   And I proceeded to think about it, and I guess it's that I'm okay with these changes, and in fact, don't feel that they're out of character.   Matt can make some pretty boneheaded moves because he believes they're right, he does get very dark, especially when he's isolated.   Good choice - for him, for his loved ones - or not, he has isolated himself except from Blindspot, who is nowhere near as close to him as Foggy was before.   Or any of his girlfriends, for that matter.   He is, for all intents and purposes, isolated at work, as DD to a degree, and as far as his social life goes.   I'm not surprised that isolation is turning Matt uberdark.)

I'm going to, however, continue considering these cons, and see if it changes how I think about this series.   So far, I've been very pleased, but I love to come at things from a new angle when fans present it, and they have.   They've spoken, and the comments I've seen have been mostly negative.   Am I missing something, or am I simply enjoying something they don't?   It's a question I'll have to ponder.   I'm okay with enjoying something the majority doesn't.   I'm okay with missing something.   (If that means I'm shutting off my brain an ignoring the quick change because I enjoy this, so be it.   I don't need to be genius girl all the time; sometimes I need something quick and easy and totally brain candy.   DD may just be that for me, but I like to know how I use certain series and which holes they fit in me, because it means I'll know why I'm craving them, and how better to satisfy those cravings.  In other words, I just want to be a happier reader and I think asking these questions of myself does that to some degree.)

Regardless, loving this, flying through this series, love, love, love.
