I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.

True to the movie, but adds nothing new

Phase Two: Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron (Marvel Cinematic Universe) - Alex Irvine

This was a really good movie novelization for a younger audience.    It had a couple iffy moments, and added nothing new to the script, so I didn't think of it as a five star book.   I really, really enjoyed it, particularly the scenes with Vision.

"Tony was also heading up, but he was using the stairs.   He had a fondue fork in one hand.   The legless legionnaire went after Dr. Cho, and at the last minute before it would have unleashed its repulsers, Mjolnir smashed it to pieces.   Another legionnaire fired at him as he waited for Mjolnir to return."

Tony was waiting for Mjolnir to return?   From Thor, I'm assuming, who threw Mjolnir again?   It's a really awkward way to phrase that, as it's unclear what's happening.   Usually Mjolnir returns to Thor, like a boomerang, so the 'waiting to return' aspect of this makes it especially confusing.   And this is one reason I can't rate this five stars.

Tony thinks this of what he saw at the beginning of the book: "...remembering his vision." I'm intrigued by the use of vision here, because said 'vision' will end up leading to the creation of the Vision.

"He took the stone and set it into the forehead of the body being built in the cradle."

YES!   Yes, please more, YESYESYESYES!

What Hawkeye can see in the truck carrying the cradle Vision is being held in, before he's born.   "And a fifth signal, much brighter than the others, lying down in what had to be Dr. Cho's regeneration cradle."

Also, yes, I melted a little when he was described as a brighter signal.   I know most people might not think of that as swoon worthy, but swoon I did.

"Before he could get up, a figured leaped out and crouched on the devastated cradle.   It was humanoid but not human with red skin accented by gold streaks like heavy circuit patterns matching the color of the gem in his forehead."

"A suit, green and form-fitting, began to cover the new creation."

I missed those seconds when he was uncovered.

"Then a cape like Thor's spread out from its shoulders, completing its dress."

I'm actually okay with this.   I find the cape kind of hot.   It's not at all because I want to snuggle up under that cape and nap.

"'I'm not Ultron.  I'm not Jarvis.   I am...'  He smiled.   'I am.'"

One of my favorites of his quotes from this movie.   Also, I believe when he goes from being 'it' to 'he' in this novelization.

"The Vision hung on, dazed to the limits of his strength but not willing to give up just yet."

"He slammed the Vision down onto the floor by the drill.   The Vision, battered and drained, could not get up."

I want some hurt/comfort.   Stat.

"'Pure me from your computers, turn my own flesh against me-it means nothing.   When the dust settles, the only thing living in this world will be metal.'"

"Amused, Thor looked on.  'He can weird the hammer, he can keep the Mind Stone.   It's safe with the Vision."

My favorite Avengers:

Vision

Thor

Haven't decided on an exact ranking for everyone else, though.
