I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
Although, man, do I hoard books! I've been reading this one since August for example. Oh, yeah.
Well, anyway, this is a bunch of different versions of Spider-Man, although there are Spider-Girls and Spider-Pigs and dog things, apparently. I didn't see any dog things, though. Alternate Spider-Mans, popping up in different times, as slightly different people, in different cultures. I do think that it was a little bit of lip service, as Peni Parker is not a Japanese name. (Nor was there much about the cultural differences, so it didn't need to be set in Japan at all.)
Add to this the fact that I've seen someone going through multiverses to kill the same person in Deadpool Kills Deadpool, and arguable in Thors as well. This wasn't original enough in execution for me not see shades of the Deadpool storyline in this.
That being said, I really liked some of the stories, especially the techno-version of Spider man in the last story, the one that was set in Japan but didn't need to be. The story before that was a creepily effective alternate universe drenched in horror.
It was fun and clever, even if borrowed from other Marvel titles a little.
