I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
It felt unnecessarily long and convoluted, while it couldn't quite decide what it wanted to be. Normally, those types of shenanigans would get a lower star rating, but this was fun, and reminded me that I've yet to read X-Statix so it gets a bit of a pass.
The art, in particular, was wonderful. And for the first couple of issues, it was genuinely funny and I loved it, even while feeling bad for Doop. Except all the things I loved about those first couple of issues? Were just a plot device to get Kitty where she needed to go.
I'm not sure why a series about Doop was all about Kitty, either.
It was just... weird. And confusing. And pretty damn introspective for a series this ridiculous, and the introspection was yet another small, saving grace that lifted this up from a one-star review.
Do I suggest this? I could easily see it working for a different reader, but it didn't do it for me. If the things I mention above bother you, then no, but if not, go for it!
