Grimlock ♥ Ultra Magnus

I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.

Nice start to a series

Alice Cooper #2 - Joe Harris, Eman Casallos

This is by Joe Harris, who apparently wrote either for the X-Files or the X-Files comics.   It's also by an artist who was decent, but I didn't know by name.   The covers were by David Mack, of Kabuki fame, whom I adore.   He does a lot of covers, and I remember being upset by the fact that the interior art sometimes wasn't by him because his covers are so luscious.

This is the case here, too.   The cover art is definitely superior to the interior art, but it's hard to match, or even top, Mack.

And it probably would have helped if I knew more about Cooper than, 'oh, I remember that makeup.'   I had to google Kachina who was, according to the internet, his first snake.  She went on the Killer tour and was on the Killer cover, too.  I looked her up because she ties into the story and I love snakes myself.  I find them elegant.

Anyway, Cooper is the Nightmare Lord and is tied to a demon named Lucius Black.   When he escapes, the whole Clan Black comes looking for Cooper.  Except that Cooper has a new master.  A schoolboy who's bullied, and who could use someone like Cooper on his side.

Unless, of course, Clan Black gets to Cooper before he can actually help the kid - which he's doing because he's been promised his freedom if he does get back at the bully.

I've got to admit, there's more of a plot than I expected, it makes sense, and it's clever and fun.   I'd read more of this.
